What is Plywood?
Plywood is an engineered wood product made by bonding thin layers of wood veneer together, with each layer oriented in alternating directions. This cross-grain construction improves strength, stability and resistance to warping.
Common types include:
Structural plywood – used for construction and load-bearing applications
Marine plywood / marine grade plywood – designed for high-moisture environments
Form plywood (formply) – used in concrete formwork
Non-structural plywood – used for interior and decorative applications

Marine Plywood BS1088
BS1088 Marine Plywood is a high quality plywood renowned for its exceptional durability and performance to withstand impact and vibration forces from waves and floating debris. Made to British Standard BS1088, this plywood is manufactured with high-quality tropical mixed hardwood species in the face and core veneers with few defects. The "BS1088" standard signifies compliance with rigorous standards related to wood quality, construction methods, and adhesive integrity. Worth noting that the mixed hardwood species may vary in colour and that colour matching may present some challenges. Available in a range of thicknesses, from 4mm to 25mm, as FSC or PEFC certified on request. Marine plywood is not waterproof, however the glue line used is an exterior glue able to withstand boiling tests. Plywood, like timber, needs to be protected by suitable coatings to stop degradation.
Hoop Pine Plywood Marine
ForestOne offers a wide range of Hoop Pine plywood manufactured with a high grade “A” or “B” face. Primarily used for linings for walls and ceilings, joinery and applications where a high-quality aesthetic finish is required. Hardwood BB/CC
Sourced from sustainable forests, our BB/CC plywood is a type of hardwood plywood that is classified as non-structural. It is manufactured by bonding together high-quality hardwood veneers with an exterior resin glue. The term “BB/CC” refers to the grading system used to classify the quality of the plywood. In this case, the letters “BB” refer to the front surface of the plywood, and any small defects that may exist are filled and sanded. The “CC” refers to the back surface of the plywood, which may have small patches and filled splits. Available in a range of thicknesses, from 3.6mm to 25mm, it is available as FSC or PEFC certified on request.
