The Willarong Club: A Layered Specification for a Contemporary Sydney Venue
The refurbishment of The Willarong Club in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire repositions a traditional community venue as a contemporary hospitality, dining and entertainment space. Designed for high-traffic use, the interior prioritises durability, long-term material performance and visual cohesion, while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere for members and guests.
Central to the project is a layered decorative surface specification featuring 12 ForestOne decors from the EGGER and MEGANITE Decorative Collections. Applied across gaming, amenities, locker areas, lounge, social and dining spaces, the specification demonstrates the depth and flexibility of ForestOne’s product portfolio within a single, cohesive commercial interior.
The project brings together a considered mix of woodgrain laminates, solid colours, stone-inspired surfaces, metallic finishes, Compact Laminate, Eurolight Panels and MEGANITE Acrylic Solid Surface. Each material has been selected to respond to the functional requirements of its application, while contributing to a consistent architectural language across the venue.

Gaming Room
In the gaming room, ForestOne’s EGGER Brown Warmia Walnut H1307 ST19 is applied as wall panelling, introducing tonal depth and a rich timber character. The warm woodgrain softens the interior and creates a more refined hospitality environment, while maintaining the durability and consistency required for a commercial setting.
The tactile ST19 surface adds subtle material depth, enhancing the sense of warmth and texture within the space.
Amenities and Locker Areas
The amenities and locker areas showcase the performance benefits of EGGER Compact Laminate, specified for its moisture resistance, impact durability and suitability for high-use environments.
Reed Green U604 ST9 and Rusty Red U335 ST9 are used across lockers and cubicle doors, introducing controlled colour in a restrained, architectural way. Natural Kendal Oak H3170 ST12 adds warmth through select Compact Laminate applications, while Dark Grey Chicago Concrete F187 ST9 grounds the scheme with a contemporary, textural contrast across partition walls.

A key feature in the amenities is MEGANITE Acrylic Solid Surface in Winter Boulder 800A, specified for custom-formed vanity benchtops with integrated basins. The seamless, monolithic detailing supports hygiene and ease of maintenance in wet-area environments, while the subtle speckled finish reinforces the material’s architectural presence and fabrication capability.
Lounge, Social and Dining Areas
The hospitality areas, including lounge, social and dining zones, feature a refined selection of ForestOne EGGER Feelwood and Materials decors, chosen for their realistic timber reproduction, tactile finishes and suitability for hospitality joinery applications.
Bleached Cuneo Oak H3311 ST28 and White Casella Oak H1384 ST40 are specified across dining tables, introducing light timber tones and natural grain detail. These finishes are complemented by Light Grey Calvia Stone F675 ST75, used on selected tabletops to provide tonal balance and durability.
Stone Green U665 ST9 is applied to low tabletops, adding depth of colour within the material palette, while Bronze Brushed Metal F528 ST20 is specified on banquet booth elements, introducing a refined metallic accent.
In the social and TAB areas, Sand Orleans Oak H1377 ST36 is used across TV wall applications and Eurolight panel features, creating warmth and continuity across vertical surfaces and decorative wall elements.
Together, these surfaces maintain a cohesive material language across varied joinery applications while meeting the practical requirements of a busy hospitality environment.
The Willarong Club renovation demonstrates the breadth of ForestOne’s decorative surface portfolio, with 12 EGGER and MEGANITE decors specified across hospitality, amenities, gaming and social spaces. The result is a cohesive, high-performance interior that balances durability, warmth and material intelligence within a contemporary community venue.
