Open Choices – Centre of Adult Education by Individual Design and Constructions

By engaging with EGGER materials, Individual Design and Constructions has provided a modern sustainable interior to the Centre of Adult Education (CAE). With light, space and inspired elements, the commercial and education centre becomes a flexible learning space that encourages collaboration between students and teachers.

As a place for collaborative learning, the centre has been filled with light and space through the use of EGGER products. With EGGER Flammex Mainau Birch throughout CAE, Individual Design and Constructions guarantees that the centre is both sustainable and fire protected – without compromising on the aesthetic of the interior. A cost-effective alternative to plywood, EGGER Flammex certifies sustainability credentials alongside its fire-resistant features, which enhance the spaces it is employed within.

Emphasising flexibility, the contemporary learning centre is inspired by the Melbourne CBD. Additional references of connectivity, transformation and opportunity have also been imparted with interior choices. First seen on the walls around CAE, dark lines are inspired by the surrounding streets and provide a recognition of the land the building sits upon. Additionally, after stepping inside, a warm and welcoming atmosphere has been imparted with light tones and colour palette to convey a mature experience for the students of CAE. Allowing adults to feel comfortable and learn freely, the combination of light, green life and décor choices within a modern context help to bring forth a flexible and engaging learning space.

By Specifying Responsibly with low carbon EGGER Flammex decorative wall panels in Mainau Birch – for wall and ceiling choices – Individual Design and Constructions has ensured compliance with a Group 1 Fire Rating. Tested in Australia and satisfying the requirements of the National Construction Code 2019, EGGER Flammex is best suited for schools, hospitals, hotels, shops and other public spaces. With additional advantages of low flammability, low smoke generation and no flaming droplets as well as being resistant to wear, impact and scratches, the Flammex Laminate is able to withstand high-impact areas such as CAE. Moreover, Flammex has an antibacterial surface property that adheres to international and national laws. Through its flat grain and uniform colour, the Mainau Birch delivers a natural warmth to the centre.
