Denham Court House by Jelena Matic Interiors

When approaching the design of her own home, ForestOne Specification Representative Jelena Matic referred to the in-depth knowledge and skills she had obtained professionally to create a space she could be personally proud of. The home employs versatile materials including products from EGGER and MEGANITE to instil a refined contemporary design.

Drenched in an abundance of natural light, Denham Court House by Jelena Matic Interiors offers hospitality and comfort through cool colour tones and tactile materials. Featuring numerous sustainable products from ForestOne, Jelena has exemplified a commitment to specifying responsibly for both the build process and the end users – her family. “As I have been exposed to specifying Responsibly within my workplace, it has become an integral part of my own design process,” says Jelena. The material palette was one of Jelena’s first considerations, influenced by other projects she’d specified in a professional capacity. The EGGER products she used for flooring and cabinetry also guided the direction of the external materials, providing a seamless cohesion between interior and exterior.

Employing EGGER products throughout her home supported Jelena’s desire to make responsible decisions across the design process. “The vast product availability just ticks all the boxes in terms of design and application,” she enthuses. One such product was EGGER’s Natural Halifax Oak, a striking distressed-look timber with an extra-large pattern repeat, which Jelena highlighted in the bathroom joinery together with open shelving in the butler’s pantry and study. “The EGGER Natural Halifax Oak was available in both panel 18-millimetre to be placed vertically, as well as Eurolight® 38-millimetre to be laid horizontally in the same finish. This allowed for simple design solutions. The panel sizes also allowed me to design the joinery within its parameters,” she explains. As a complement to the Natural Halifax Oak, EGGER’s Angora Grey was used for the master bedroom joinery and study room. Throughout the home, laminate flooring in EGGER’s Dark Rillington Oak – currently part of the International range – unifies the joinery elements and interior spaces.

“As I have been exposed to Specifying Responsibly within my workplace, it has become an integral part of my own design process,” says Jelena.

Alongside the use of EGGER products, Jelena specified MEGANITE® Snow White for the benchtops in the bathrooms and outdoor barbeque area. Weathertex’s Weathergroove 75-millimetre smooth finish is employed for the exterior black façade panelling. Together with ForestOne, Jelena was able to create a home that speaks to her desire to specify responsibly. “Since my exposure to EGGER’s product range and their processes as well as net zero 2050 targets becoming actualised, I am far more conscious of my design decisions,” Jelena explains. “Australians renovate or revamp joinery on average every 10 years. If each residential home made a conscious effort to use sustainable products, we could potentially reach our targets faster.”
